Ancient Greece Test

Today in class we took the test on ancient Greece. I studied for about 15 min for it during my off mod as well as during advisory I studied for it. I thought overall that the test was fairly compared to the ones that we have recently took. I knew the seas and the rivers that went with each country. As well as Homer and Homeric question and the allegory of the cave and a amuser of it. The big things to know are the rivers, seas, Homer, and allegory of the cave for the test.

More on Draco and review

Today in class Mr. Schick took a good bit of time to talk more about Draco and his effect on ancient Greece and its history. then Mr. Schick continued to talk about Greek government in the old times. We discussed how it relates to modern times and the government t that we have today. And also the write ins to the ballot like same sex marriage was a few years ago in 2012.

review and different types of government

Today in class Mr. Schick talked to us the different governments that were in ancient Greece. He mentioned the aristocracy, and oligarchy. He then spent a good bit of time talking about how it relates to todays world. He talked about the economy and climate change and the world is changing because of it. He mentioned that big time eco's of companies are being told that they're companies could fail if changes do not happen. Today's class was pretty interesting.

Pop quiz

Today in class we took a pop quiz that was ten questions and worth 20 points. I got a 16 out of 20 and was ok with that since it was a pop quiz and I had no idea that we were taking it. I messed up on the seas and which one is located there. After that, we took notes on the Greek democracy. I learned about the government and how it operated with its citizens. It had a democracy where the citizens operated it and had no representatives.

Learning about Homer

Today in class Mr. Schick spent most of the class talking about Homer and whether or not he was real or not. Then he got the book called the Odyssey that Homer wrote. He explained to us that he needed to read the book for a class. and when he was at home one time while reading the book his daughter asked what he was reading and she wanted him to read it to her. he then went on to read the whole thing to her which I think is very cool.

Is it a pipe or not?

Today in class Mr. Schick took a lot of time talking about philosophy and how you think about what you are thinking about. He showed us a pipe and asked what it is. The real answer was supposed to be a painting of a pipe. While I thought it was a horn of some sorts. Then we took a look at what ancient civilizations had in common and that was they were all surrounded by a body of water. Then we took a look at a map of ancient Greece and determined that it was the same as the other civilizations.

Allegory of the Cave

Today in class Mr. Schick gave us our tests back that were on ancient Egypt and the Nile River I did not to do good on the quiz and I was pretty disappointed about it. Then Mr. Schick and Izzy read us the socrates allegory about a cave were people lived inside the earth. They had no light source and could only see shadows. The story went on to describe a prisoners journey from being able to escape to realizing what kind of world they were missing. The prisoner then goes back to tell the other prisoners what he saw. But they do not think fondly that he left and they want him to be killed. I think that allegory was fairly interesting as well as fun to break down.

Sub in class

Today in class we had sub and it was ms. jacques. Mr. Schick had us take notes on ancient city-states. I made sure to take notes on the chapter summary, definitions, and the overall gist of the of the articles and paragraphs. After I finished taking notes I was going to do my blog but then my computer so I completed my math homework which was due later in the day.

Quiz on Ancient Egypt

Today in class we took the quiz on Ancient Egypt. I already know that I did poorly on it as Mr. Schick already updating the grades. I got a 70 I think this is my lowest grade ever on a quiz or test in Mr. Shicks class. I am pretty disappointed about this as I thought that it would have been easier. I studied as well perhaps I did not study well enough or the right material. I will be sure to get good grades on the rest of the assignments this quarter and to do my blog so I am able to get A just like the other two quarters so far this year.

Review for quiz on Egypt

Today in class Mr. Schick made sure that we were prepared for the quiz that we will be taking tomorrow. The quiz will be 75 points and around 15 questions. I found the video on mummification that he showed us to be very interesting and I still am wondering how the heck they can get the brain out through the persons nose. It just does not seem possible to me. I feel pretty prepared for tomorrow's quiz and I think that I will do well on it.

More notes on Ancient Egypt

Today in class we did not do a lot we just took more notes on ancient Egypt. then mr. Schick told us that we will have a quiz o nThursday and in tomorrow's class we will review for the quiz and watch a video on how mummification works and its process. The quiz on Thursday will be a 75 point quiz just like the other one that we took last week. I will need to study for this quiz as it will be hard
