assignment #8 3/30/20

I have read, analyzed, and comprehended what Mr. Schick has written on his blog for today's assignment. I feel like I have done a good job of not breaking the academic honor code and keeping my integrity throughout this stay at home period. Now that Governor Larry Hogan has just issued  stay-home directive for the state of Maryland I have finally come to realize that this may be our new reality for a good bit of time. I have used this time appreciate everything that I have in life. This time also makes me realize that a lot of other things in the world such as spots, movies, and tv shows are not necessary in life and are only secondary priorities. I also believe that I have not given into the temptation to lack off of my work and not do it well. I wake every morning and get y work every day before 4 o clock which allows me to have free time after my work just like it would be after a school day and I would have baseball practice. In conclusion, I believe I have taken this break wel...

The plague that struck Athens during the Peloponnesian war can be compared very similarly to the coronavirus outbreak that is occurring today. The plague came out of nowhere and took a turn for the worst causing Athens to have shutdown their city and take half -hearted attempts to continue fighting the war. And today the world is pretty much shutdown and society and economic worth is quickly declining. Another similarity between the two is that both of the outbreaks effected people of great fame. The plague outbreak in Athens caused many of their leaders to receive the sickness. And while today our leaders do not have it. many notable figures have received such as NBA athletes and NFL coaches. When that happens the significance of the virus really hits you, that anyone could harmed by it.

assignment #5 3/23/20

Alexander the Great and Bucephalus had a very interesting relationship that can most likely connect to people who own horses. I do not own a horse myself but I have been up close with them and know how much of a spectacular animal they really are. When Alexander the great was 12 years old his dad offered a horse (being Bucephalus) from a man. Alexander the Great's dads name was king Philip II of Macedonia. he paid 13 talents for the horse which at the time was a very large amount of money. Alexander's father was not very interested in the horse so he let alexander have it for himself. alexander promised to keep for it and pay for its needs over time. Bucephalus reportedly died after 30 years of life which equates to 180 horse years. Which is an extremely long amount of time for a horse. He is also said to be more powerful than Pegasus. Bucephalus truly was an incredible animal and his relationship with alexander the great helped changed history forever.

assignment #4 3/20/20

As the first week of cyber school winds down I have many opinions that sway towards it being a good thing and many opinions toward it being a bad thing. One of my opinions for it being a bad thing is that I miss seeing my friends everyday and being able to talk and socialize with them. A positive opinion that I have about it is that you have more free time throughout the day to be able to get more stuff done, which when school is in normal hours were able to have as much free time. I think online school is very interesting with the way that it works and I would not mind it going forward for the rest of the year.

assignment #3 3/18/20

After the war was over the city-state of Athens was in a traumatic state after the war had taken a hit because of the plague and the loss of resources that we used in the war. During this time many philosophers became relevant trying to ask and answer questions about the society that they lived in.  Most of them believed in two main ideals; people can understand laws through logic/reasoning, and the universe is put together in a orderly fashion. The sophists which was a group of Philosophers unexamined values about the people of Athens beliefs. One man named Protagoras questioned if the Greek gods existed at all which at the time was disgraceful to the culture as the people of Greek thought that the Greek gods were in control of everything.

The Spartans invaded Athens looking to take over farmland. During the battle many fields and crops were destroyed. A year after the war had started the grainboats that had brought over the soldiers for war was now causing plague to run ramped throughout the battlefields. The Plague took full control of the human body, stated a Greek man who lived through those years. this caused Athens to rethink their plan and how they were going to defend themselves. Pericles then caught the plague himself. After 6 months of suffering through the illness, Pericles died.
